In The Grove...

Maggie & David will officially represent dotwu at the Ole Miss game this weekend; I've always wanted to make the trip to Oxford and wish we could have gone this year...

We should blow out the Rebs, but after the near embarrassment last weekend who knows what to expect. I'd like to see Joe Cox get plenty of playing time this week; he certainly deserves it. I loved what he told they guys when he came into the game last week "If we can't score two touchdowns, we don't deserve to wear these G's on our helmets."

7:45 Kickoff confirmed...

AJC Confirms 7:45 UT vs. UGA kickoff

Breaking News: Potential Night Game vs. Vols...

The GSB has a link to an article in the Chattanooga Times Free Press indicating that the UGA vs. UT game will be a 7:45 kickoff on ESPN. From the Article:

Late-night Bulldogs
The Bulldogs will play Ole Miss on ESPN2 this Saturday night at 9 Eastern, and it appears the Oct. 7 game between Georgia and Tennessee will be at night as well. CBS has a noon-3:30 doubleheader that afternoon, but ESPN actually has first pick of the UT-UGA, LSU-Florida and Auburn-Arkansas matchups.

Georgia media relations director Claude Felton said Saturday that ESPN "protected" the Tennessee game before the season and does not expect the cable network to change course. ESPN prime-time telecasts kick off at 7:45.

Official announcements for the league's Oct. 7 games will be made Monday

I certainly hope that ESPN picks up the game. I didn't realize they had "protected" the game from CBS. A night game with the Vols 'tween the hedges' would help make up for all the 12:30 starts.

Taligate On...

Despite the 12:30 kickoff, tailgating is on for this weekend (although Robin & I will not be in attendance). The tailgating site (for now) is the same place from 2004 - The Driftmier Engineering Center.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Unfortunately, the highlight of this game will probably be Ralphie...

Not That Ralphie...

This One...

Tailgating this year has sucked because of all the 12:30 starts; let's keep our fingers crossed for a 3:30 kickoff for the Tenn. game and one kick ass tailgate...

Still Hungover...

No official tailgate this weekend. Unfortunately, the Colorado game has been set for a 12:30 kickoff so tailgating for that game seems unlikely also. I'm sure the Tennessee game will either be the 3:30 CBS game or the ESPN night game; I suppose we'll finally get to tailgate for that one. Robin and I will probably try and find a place to stay in Athens that weekend; I'll give y'all a heads up if we find some openings.

I'm still hung-over from last weekend; thanks to everyone who showed up and I hope y'all had a good time. Here are few pics from Sat.; I also have two hilarious video clips that I'll try to get posted here in the next week or so...

This first photo was e-mailed to me from my Brother. I've included his e-mail description also; the photo is like a fine work of art...

from Mark:
Check out this picture from your party, I have some more but this is my favorite. It looks like this picture was setup, Reich in the foreground about to puke, me in the middle spilling a drink and you and Stephen in the background having a moment. It’s the Trifecta of drunkenness. I also like the little nuances throughout the picture…stack of pizza boxes toped of with a piece of cake, a clear picture of John Smoltz on the TV while Reich is wearing his Braves jersey. It’s a great drunken picture.

"Like watching paint dryyyy"

The game on Saturday was, to quote John Kirby, "like watching paint dryyyyy."

Mr. Kirby still kicking ass at TSA

Paulwesterdawg over at the Georgia Sports Blog posted this video documenting the "success" of the family friendly tailgate zones.

Stafford getting in the game was the big shocker of the afternoon, and I get the feeling from his performance and Richt's comments that he will see playing time this Saturday. The defense looked real sharp; but nothing can really be measured from the WKU game. We'll find out against the Gamecocks what kind of team we have. See y’all Saturday…

"Tween the Hedges"

No tailgate plans for the game this weekend. However, several of us are meeting at the "Between The Hedges" bar/restaurant around 10:00 to grab a spot for beers and lunch before kickoff. Hope to see some of y’all there.

Don't forget we have a serious tailgate next weekend at my place for the SC game.

Reich, Jay, & Dewey;I expect to see more of this on the 9th...

If any of you watched the MSU vs. SC game last night; I thought paulwesterdawg summed up the SC offense perfectly:
"Offense -- South Carolina's offense looked hung over vs. Mississippi State. That entire side of the ball looked like it had spent 3 weeks in some Vietcong hump, hump bar doing formaldehyde shooters while chasing one armed hookers around the pool table. Then suddenly they wandered into Starkville drunk, dazed and wondering where that crazy itch came from. Our offense needs to look...you know...better than that."

And MSU's offense was even worse; would love to hear his description for that unit...

It is time to rejoice; the college football season has finally arrived!!!
