Do We Have A Chance???

The Dawgs show up in Jacksonville this year for the first time in the last several years without an SEC or national title on the line. While this is certainly a negative, let’s all be Optimist and turn it into a positive. With virtually no shot at earning a spot in the SEC title game and significantly lower expectations from the Dawg Nation, the pressure cooker that this game has been for the Dawgs of recent years has subsided. Now I’m not sure what this means; but maybe… just maybe… the Dawgs will show up loose, have fun, and make the game competitive at the very least.

David Ching, who covers the Dawgs for the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, posted some observations from practice this week that support the “play loose” idea on his blog: “I thought this would be a blowout earlier in the week, but I've been surprised by how light on their feet the Bulldogs have been this week. Tennessee week, it seemed like they needed a Prozac prescription. They've got to avoid turnovers and put pressure on Chris Leak and I think they've got a chance.”

I can’t believe that ESPN and CBS are bending over to political correctness and agreeing not to refer to game as it has affectionately been know for years as “The Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.” From what I understand, this was all started by our Ass-Clown President Michael “I look like a Carp” Adams. The reference is even listed in the Wikipedia Encyclopedia, check it out here “The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party”

The Georgia – Florida game is a special event and I personally hope they always keep the game in Jacksonville. You didn’t hear the Dawg fans asking for a home and home during the 70’s and 80’s when we went 15-5 against the gayturds; we just need to reverse the trend, and Saturday would be a great time to start.

We lost to VANDY!!!

How do you loose to Vandy at home on Homecoming??? My level of frustration was at Ray Goff levels on Saturday, and I’m sure y’all’s were too. Much has been said and written about the game and this team, and I’m not going to try and explain what happened. Check out today’s ajc for thoughts on the “Reasons for the Dawgs’ demise.”

Switching gears, today is the birthday of one of the all-time great Dawgs: Lewis Grizzard. Check out Kyle King’s post on Mr. Grizzard: And I Don’t Feel So Good Myself…

I never will forget Mike Luckovich’s cartoon published in the AJC shortly after his death. Catfish was his beloved Lab that had passed on earlier.

Believe it or not, Tailgating is on for this weekend! We will be on the Driftmier lawn.

For the love of God, I hope we can beat Miss. State (and cover)…

The Cocktail Party and Gayturds (if you click this link, don't skip the intro) are up next, we might have to drink ourselves into oblivion for that one…

UT game and other stuff...

Despite the outcome of the game last Saturday, we had a great tailgate and we missed all y’all that couldn’t make it. And good news for the ladies: An open restroom was discovered that is open on Gamedays and is only about 30 seconds from the Porta-Johns.

Regarding the QB situation, I just don’t think JTIII has enough talent to be the starting QB at the University of Georgia. He seems like a great kid and a true Dawg; but would he even be on the UGA roster if his last name wasn’t Tereshinski??? I’m not saying that Cox and Stafford would have done much better, but it might be time to let the more talented QB’s get the snaps and develop some game experience. Also, it would be nice if CMR didn’t give up on the running game so frequently; Air Force and Florida ran the ball very successfully against UT and it would have been nice to see a little more of a commitment to the running game. Despite what changes we could have made on offense, it probably wouldn’t have mattered because our Defense was just horrible. This defense giving up 51 points at home is an embarrassment; PWD at the Georgia Sports Blog summed it up nicely: “no team that recruits at the level that UGA does should EVER give up 51 points to anyone. Particularly not at home, and particularly not to a team that lost to Vanderbilt the year before.”

It sure would be nice to see the Dawgs go out and cover the spread (13.5pts) against Vandy tomorrow; but I’m probably not going to bet on it.

Dr. Adams and Coach Dooley are back at it; this time Dr. Adams admits to being a liar. AJC story / Why Dr. Adams sucks

Looks like the next tailgate will be for the Tech game; hopefully it won’t be as cold as the last time.
